Shape up or get out!

Creating an 8-page editorial spread featuring a font-family of my choosing. I chose to feature Futura, created by Paul Renner in 1927, because I was very interested in the fact that it was based off geometric shapes.

For this project, I drew inspiration from Swiss Modernism/Design, Bauhaus, abstract art, and of course, geometric shapes. I aimed to create an editorial publication that allows both the graphics and the type to shine in their own light, however never taking away from the type itself.

I chose a vibrant color palette of pink, blue, and yellow and used geometric shapes to call out and overall enhance the anatomy of the typography. I also arranged type lockups to look like, or otherwise resemble, a given shape. I made very intentional use of the grid tools to create a layout that would remain inline where applicable.
