You’re less alone than you think.

Mental health awareness is something that has been of great importance to me for as long as I can remember. That’s why when I was tasked with creating a window spotlight for a subject of my choice in a Digital Media Studio class I jumped at the chance to provide education about different mental illnesses.

My goal for this project was to create a relatable experience for those suffering from mental illnesses, offering guidance and support to those affected without contributing to the negative stigma associated with the epidemic.

Combining expressive illustration and research, this project provides a sobering look into the mental health crisis. The stigma around mental illness paints sufferers as violent and dangerous, unable to hold a job or be a productive member of society, although this is far from the truth. Sufferers of mental illness are just like any other, deserving of a chance at success and good health, free from the judgment of others. Proudly, this project was one of the top 6 projects of the class, voted in by other students.
